Factory Records Research & Authentication Service

Factory Records Research, Serial Number Verification & Authentication

Whether you're buying, selling, insuring, or simply trying to learn more about a Genuine Billy Cook saddle, this is the only way to request information from our factory records.
Our team manually researches your saddle using its serial number, photographs, historical production records, and construction details. If we are able to identify the saddle, we will provide every detail available in our records.

Why Authenticate Your Saddle?
Authenticating your Genuine Billy Cook saddle verifies its origin, preserves its history, and protects its value. You’ll receive an official Certificate of Authenticity documenting your saddle’s serial number, model, year, and verified specifications—issued directly by Billy Cook. Authentication adds resale and insurance value, confirms legitimacy, and creates a permanent record tied to your saddle.

Information We May Be Able to Provide
• Approximate date of manufacture
• Model number
• Original specifications
• Seat size
• Tree and bar information (when available)
• Measurements
• Original tooling and finish
• Build notes or special options (when available)
• Verification that the saddle is a Genuine Billy Cook
• Official Certificate of Authenticity

Factory Records Research & Authentication Fee: $50
The fee covers the time required for our staff to locate, review, interpret, and verify information contained in our historical production records. This is a research service—not simply the issuance of a certificate.
Every request is reviewed manually by a member of our team.
Purchasing a Certificate of Authenticity through this page is the only way we process and respond to requests for information on previously built saddles. Due to the high volume of requests we are not able to provide these details by phone, email, or social media inquiries. This service is for manufacturer’s authentication and available product specifications only. We do not provide appraisals or opinions on value.

Authenticity Verification Disclaimer

*Important*
If you are contacting us to ask:
• What year was my saddle made?
• What model is this saddle?
• What are the trees dimensions?
• Can you verify this is a genuine Billy Cook saddle?
• Can you provide me the specifications on this saddle from the serial number?
This is the service you need.

If you are purchasing a used Genuine Billy Cook saddle, we recommend that the seller purchase this report as part of the transaction. Factory verification provides buyers with confidence and often helps complete the sale.

All serial number research, factory record requests, specification requests, and authentication requests are processed exclusively through this page. We do not provide this information by email, phone, social media, or live chat.

We only authenticate identified Genuine Billy Cook saddles. The simplest and most accurate way to identify a genuine Billy Cook saddle:
✅ Genuine Billy Cook Saddles
- Stamped “Billy Cook Maker –
Sulphur, Oklahoma” (Current, authentic)
- Stamped “Billy Cook Maker –
Greenville, Texas” (Authentic, over 30 years old)
❌ Not Genuine Billy Cook Saddles
- Stamped “Billy Cook Saddlery –
Greenville, Texas” (Non-genuine; 'Saddlery' indicates unaffiliated saddle)
⚠️ Mixed or Older Stamps
Some older authentic saddles may have:
- Silver/hardware marked “BC Greenville, Texas”
- Leather skirt stamped “Maker”
- If the saddle includes “Maker” (even with Greenville, TX), it's a genuine Billy Cook saddle from earlier Texas era.
Key rule: “Maker” = Genuine Billy Cook;
“Saddlery” = Not Genuine Billy Cook

Historical Records
Genuine Billy Cook maintains production records for saddle serial numbers dating back to 1991. If your saddle was produced prior to 1991, we may still be able to authenticate it as a Genuine Billy Cook Maker saddle based on the maker’s mark, construction details, and other identifying characteristics. However, detailed production records such as model number, year of manufacture, or original specifications may not be available for saddles produced before 1991.
Authentication Fee Policy
The authentication service fee covers the time and research required to review serial numbers, maker’s marks, construction details, and historical records. Because this work is completed regardless of the outcome, authentication fees are non-refundable.
If a saddle is determined not to be a Genuine Billy Cook Maker saddle, the authentication fee will not be refunded. Instead, the amount paid will be issued as a store credit that may be used toward purchases in our online store.
By proceeding with the registration and authentication request, you confirm that you understand and accept these terms.

Please note that for international shipments, the customer is responsible for arranging and covering the cost of shipping. If your certificate requires international delivery, we will contact you with the necessary details before mailing.
